The Haldi Ceremony: Colour & Chaos
Haldi is where the guard comes down. I love capturing the messy, unscripted, and loud moments that turn into your favourite wedding memories.
A joyful, candid moment as the bride and groom playfully apply haldi to each other. This is the kind of happy chaos I love to capture.

About The Haldi Ceremony: Colour & Chaos
Haldi is fast, messy, and loud. Because of that, my team and I stay mobile with our gear, avoiding heavy tripods or static setups. We move through the family crowd to catch the genuine laughs and expressions that happen when you are too busy enjoying the ritual to worry about the camera.
Shooting a Haldi ceremony is all about anticipation. You have the vibrant yellow decor, the turmeric stains, and the energy of close family, but the real magic is in the fleeting moments. Whether it is a bride sharing a quiet smile while her cousins apply haldi, or the groom caught in a moment of playful chaos, my job is to be there without interrupting the flow of the ceremony.
My team at Kiran Sutar Films and I use Sony and Canon equipment that allows us to switch quickly between wide shots of the crowd and tight, intimate portraits. We focus on natural light where possible, as the bright yellow themes often look best when the colours aren't heavily processed or washed out.
Since I shoot across Navi Mumbai, Pune, and the rest of Maharashtra, I have learned that every Haldi has a different rhythm. Some are quiet family rituals in a garden, others are full-blown parties with dhol players and dancing. I adjust my approach to match your energy. I am not here to tell you how to pose or where to stand. I am here to document the raw emotions, the fun, and the authentic interactions that define your start to the wedding festivities.
