What a shot! This is the result of getting the short game fundamentals right. We practice chipping until it feels natural, and moments like this perfect chip-in make all the practice worthwhile.
Putting is all about precision. I'm teaching this young golfer how to maintain a steady head and a smooth pendulum motion with his putter, which are key skills for sinking more putts.
Practicing a chip shot at the range. We work on selecting the right club and technique based on the distance to the green, helping you develop a reliable short game.
About The Short Game: Chipping & Putting
Many players assume the short game is just about intuition, but it relies on a very specific pendulum motion. At the Siri Fort practice green, I work with you to stabilize your wrists and find a consistent rhythm. We will look at your setup and club selection so you stop guessing and start sticking those chips consistently closer to the pin.
Why the Short Game Wins Matches
Most golfers spend all their time at the driving range hitting drivers, but the scorecard doesn't lie: 60% of your shots happen within 100 yards of the hole. If you can chip and putt, you can save par even when your long game is having an off day.
My Approach to Chipping
It all starts with your stance. Chipping isn't a full swing, so you need a tighter base. We will work on:
- Ball Position: Getting it back in your stance to encourage a downward strike.
- Weight Distribution: Keeping your weight on the lead foot—halka sa weight shift—to ensure clean contact with the ball, not the ground.
- Club Selection: Learning when to use a wedge versus a 9-iron to get the ball rolling.
Putting Mechanics
Putting is about consistency. I don't believe in over-complicating the grip, but the pendulum motion must be steady. We focus on:
- Eye Alignment: Ensuring your eyes are over the ball.
- Shoulder Rotation: Using your big muscles, not your wrists, to control the stroke.
- Distance Control: Practicing lag putting to ensure your first putt leaves an easy tap-in.
