Modern Residential Architecture and Design

I design contemporary homes that balance clean, minimalist lines with the warmth of natural light and raw materials. My focus is on creating open, airy spaces that feel deeply connected to their environment.

I designed this home on a 30x40 plot in Bangalore to be a piece of livable sculpture. The facade uses curved concrete forms and corten steel panels to create a dynamic exterior, while integrated planters bring life to every level.

This is how I use light to shape a space. A slatted skylight casts moving patterns of shadow and sun throughout the day, creating a constantly changing atmosphere in this multi-level interior. The glass bridge connects spaces while keeping the home feeling open and airy.

I believe nature shouldn't just be a view, it should be part of the home. Here, a lap pool is integrated into the core of the house, surrounded by indoor planters and lit by a large skylight, creating a private, tropical oasis.

This completed residence in Tharalu, Bangalore, shows my approach to creating visual interest with materials and form. The design uses a mix of exposed brick jaali screens for ventilation and privacy, alongside stacked geometric volumes in plaster and concrete.

This open-plan living and dining space is from a 60x40 residence. My goal was to create a warm, expansive area for family life, using a rich wood-paneled ceiling and floor-to-ceiling glass to connect the interior with the surrounding greenery.

For this home, the design is literally built around nature. The structure makes way for two large palm trees, integrating them into the balconies and overall form, which I call the "Tree Hugger" concept.

About this collection

I approach every project as a piece of functional sculpture, specifically focusing on how structural volumes interact with the local climate. Whether I am working on a compact 30x40 city plot or a sprawling site, my method involves using skylights, double-height volumes, and raw materials like exposed concrete to manipulate daylight and create a sense of expansive calm.

My philosophy is rooted in the idea that good architecture should not require excessive decoration. I strip away the unnecessary to reveal the honest nature of the building. This is why you will see exposed brick, concrete, and corten steel in my work. These materials possess a tactile quality that brings character to a home without needing paint or plaster to cover them up.

Design for the Bangalore Climate

Designing for a city like Bangalore requires understanding how to balance modern aesthetics with practical needs. I prioritize cross-ventilation and daylight optimization. My projects, such as the Tharalu residence or the various split-level homes I have designed, utilize jaali screens and strategic openings to ensure air moves through the space, keeping interiors comfortable year-round.

Technical Rigor

Minimalism is demanding. Because I often leave structural elements like concrete ceilings exposed, the MEP (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing) coordination must be precise from the start. I plan electrical conduits and plumbing lines while the structural concept is still being developed. This ensures that the final product looks clean and deliberate, not cluttered with external piping or unsightly wires.

The Process

Every client interaction begins with a site analysis to understand the wind path and solar orientation. I create 3D visualizations that aren't just for show, but for understanding how massing affects the site. Whether it is integrating a tree into the balcony structure or designing a cantilevered staircase, my goal is to create a home that feels like a natural extension of the land it occupies.
