My Kintsugi Philosophy: Rebuilding Trust
I don't believe in 'broken' dogs. My Kintsugi approach is about mending cracks with gold, using routine and a safe, cage-free home to turn anxiety into confidence.
People say shelter dogs are broken, but I see resilience. This is my pack, a mix of rescues and guests, living in harmony. It took work, trust, and a belief in Kintsugi, the art of mending with gold, to get here. We are all a bit broken, and that's what makes us beautiful.
This is the beauty of being back to doing what I love. For me, hosting and training these kiddos is like rebuilding with gold. Every dog that finds comfort here is a testament to the power of patience and a safe space.

About My Kintsugi Philosophy
The 'Kintsugi' approach isn't just a concept—it dictates how I manage the house. Every new dog must complete a 24-hour trial stay so I can assess how they handle my resident pack. This isn't just boarding; it is a necessary observation period to ensure your dog feels secure, not stressed, in an open, cage-free environment.
When people say a shelter dog is 'broken,' I tell them that is exactly why I do what I do. Just like the Japanese art of Kintsugi—where pottery is repaired with gold to make it stronger—I help dogs rebuild their confidence through strict routine and unconditional consistency.
Why the Kintsugi Approach Matters
This is not a facility where dogs are kept in runs or crates. My Whitefield home is a fully cage-free zone. For a dog struggling with anxiety or a history of trauma, being locked in a cage often exacerbates the problem. By allowing them to move freely, lounge on sofas, and interact with my own dogs, I create a dynamic where the dog learns to self-regulate.
Training and Trust
My work is rooted in obedience and boundaries. If a dog comes to me unable to walk on a leash or reactive to other dogs, we work on it. This is not magic. It is hard work. It involves desensitizing triggers and enforcing a schedule that provides the predictability these dogs crave. Whether it is an adult rescue or a puppy needing socialisation, the goal remains the same: to turn their perceived flaws into strengths.
The Trial Stay Requirement
This is non-negotiable. I need to see how your dog reacts to my pack—Zeus, Phoebe, and Scotch. If your dog is aggressive or deeply antisocial, the open-home environment might not be a fit, and I will be honest about that. I prioritize the safety of the entire group above all else. If they pass the trial, they are welcomed as part of the family for their stay.
