Hand-Painted Heritage Decor & Wall Art
A look at my favorite pieces, where traditional Indian art forms meet modern home decor. Every brush stroke tells a story of our heritage.
This Nandi, with its burst of floral color, is inspired by the exquisite 'aari' embroidery of Kashmir. It's a perfect example of how I love to translate the beauty of Indian textiles and folk art onto a three-dimensional wooden canvas, making it a unique piece of wall decor.
Create your own sacred gallery wall. This collection, featuring a Pichwai-style cow, a Kalamkari-inspired peacock, and a delicate swan, shows how different pieces can come together to tell a larger story, celebrating the animals of Brindavan.
This seated Nandi sculpture carries a quiet, regal presence. The deep black base is illuminated by intricate red and gold patterns, a combination that feels both timeless and powerful, making it a substantial piece for a table or shelf.
Feel the divine energy of Kerala's Theyyam ritual with this hand-painted wooden wall plate. The intense expression, fiery colors, and textured background are my attempt to capture the mystical aura of this ancient and awe-inspiring folk dance form.
Watch how a simple wooden plate is transformed. This piece is inspired by 'Kantha', a traditional running stitch embroidery from West Bengal. I use fine brushstrokes to mimic the texture of thread, creating a unique trompe-l'œil effect that blends painting with textile art.
Every piece begins as a sketch on a plain wooden surface. This video shows the patient process of bringing a Nandi to life, stroke by stroke, transforming it from a simple object into a vibrant story bursting with color and life.
This is one of my favorite pieces, depicting Hanuman in the Tholu Bommalata folk art style. Traditionally seen in leather puppetry, I've adapted its bold lines and vibrant green and red palette for this 8-inch wooden plate, a powerful symbol of devotion for your home.
Who says traditional art can't be playful? This bubble-gum pink Nandi is a modern take on a classic form. The bright, joyful colors pop against the intricate purple and blue details, perfect for adding a splash of contemporary Indian art to your space.
About Featured
When you choose a Nandi sculpture, please notice that the horns and ears are detachable with a secure socket fit. This isn't just for style, it is a practical choice I made so that these fragile, hand-painted pieces arrive safely at your doorstep without any breakage.
Every piece you see here starts as a plain, lifeless block of wood. My work is built on the philosophy of 'slow-made' art. Whether it is a wall plate featuring the intense expressions of Theyyam or a 3D Nandi sculpture inspired by Kalamkari, each item demands 10 to 15 days of patience, layering, and precision.
My collection focuses on bringing specific Indian folk art traditions into your living space. You will find influences from:
- Kerala Mural & Pattachitra: Used to bring depth and divinity to my Nandi sculptures.
- Gond & Tholu Bommalata: The bold lines and vibrant palettes of these styles are perfect for 8 to 12-inch wooden wall plates.
- Kantha-inspired Textures: I often use fine brushwork to mimic the running stitches of this Bengali embroidery, creating a tactile effect on the wood surface.
I primarily use solid neem or mango wood for my sculptures, which gives them a heavier, heirloom quality compared to compressed boards. For the wall plates, I use high-quality MDF or rustic wood, finished with either a matte varnish for a traditional, organic look or a high-gloss epoxy resin for a modern, ceramic-like pop. If you are looking for something specific—perhaps a particular deity, a set for a gallery wall, or a custom gift—I am happy to discuss how we can adapt these traditional stories to fit your space.
