Healing Interiors: Designing for Patient Well-being

We apply evidence-based design and neuro-aesthetics to transform clinical environments into spaces that actively support patient recovery.

We believe in reducing stress through design. This image from Paras Yash Kothari Hospital shows how we use open, landscaped atriums and comfortable seating to create calming, restorative spaces that alleviate patient and visitor anxiety.

Daylight is a key element of our interior design strategy. The double-height atrium at Sarvodaya Hospital is designed to draw natural light deep into the building, enhancing mood, reducing feelings of isolation, and promoting emotional well-being.

The waiting lobby at Pragma Medical Institute showcases our use of expansive glazing. Research shows that exposure to daylight helps regulate circadian rhythms, improving sleep and overall health, making it a critical healing element in our designs.

The reception and waiting area at Pragma Medical Institute is designed to be spacious and intuitive. We incorporate natural materials like wood and stone, along with clear sightlines, to reflect the emotional realities of patients and their families.

The sunlit central atrium at Pragma Medical Institute features a biophilic design with an indoor garden and kiosk. These natural elements are integrated to ease anxiety, aid recovery, and provide a positive distraction for patients and visitors.

The interior courtyard at Paras Yash Kothari Hospital, seen from an upper level, improves daylight access and operational efficiency. The integration of planters and natural wood tones creates a serene atmosphere for healing.

About this collection

In our design for the Paras Yash Kothari Hospital, we replaced traditional, claustrophobic corridors with a central courtyard to prioritize patient well-being. This spatial shift transforms the building from a purely clinical utility into a therapeutic environment, using biophilic design elements to naturally lower stress and improve wayfinding for patients, families, and staff.

Evidence-Based Design in Healthcare

Clinical treatment is only one facet of recovery. Our interior design philosophy is built on the integration of neuro-aesthetics and clinical functionality. We believe that hospitals are not just collections of rooms, but complex systems that must support the psychological and physiological needs of those within them. By leveraging research-backed design, we ensure every element—from the texture of materials to the placement of windows—serves a specific purpose in the healing process.

The Role of Natural Light and Biophilia

At projects like the Pragma Medical Institute and Sarvodaya Hospital, we have prioritized natural light as a critical design tool. Exposure to daylight is essential for regulating circadian rhythms, which can directly influence sleep patterns and overall health. We use strategic glazing and double-height atriums to draw light deep into building cores, effectively reducing feelings of isolation often experienced in clinical settings.

Operational Efficiency Through Design

Our approach is grounded in evidence-based clinical zoning. We analyze operational flows to ensure that wait times are reduced and wayfinding is intuitive. In our work on Sarvesh Health City, for instance, the layout connects key departments around an open-to-sky courtyard. This visibility reduces the navigational burden on visitors and creates a seamless transition between the waiting areas and clinical zones. We also integrate low VOC materials and touch-free technologies to maintain the highest standards of hygiene without compromising the aesthetic warmth required for a comforting, human-centric hospital environment.
