Greenfield Hospital Design & Campus Master Planning
We integrate clinical efficiency, sustainable infrastructure, and human-centric design to build self-sustaining medical ecosystems from the ground up.
An aerial view of the 190-acre AIIMS Guwahati campus, which we designed as a comprehensive teaching medical facility. Our master plan integrates principles of sustainability, resilience, and human-centric design to bring world-class healthcare to northeast India.
The AIIMS Guwahati campus, seen here during its phased expansion, was executed using an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) framework. This multi-agency approach ensures efficiency and expertise in developing large-scale public health infrastructure.
Our design for AIIMS Guwahati is site-responsive, addressing the region's subtropical climate and proximity to the Brahmaputra river. The master plan incorporates vernacular drainage systems and interconnected ponds to mitigate flood risks and preserve the local ecosystem.
This aerial perspective of AIIMS Guwahati highlights the scale of the campus and its harmonious integration with the natural landscape. The climate-responsive design enhances occupant well-being through natural ventilation and daylighting, demonstrating our commitment to creating empathetic, planet-friendly facilities.
A dusk view of the AIIMS Guwahati campus, a project that embodies our vision for India's public healthcare landscape. Our research-driven approach creates a model that harmonizes with local contexts while addressing national health challenges.
The Outpatient Department (OPD) entrance at AIIMS Guwahati. The campus was designed using a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model, a testament to how collaboration can drive innovation, efficiency, and sustainability in public healthcare infrastructure.
The AYUSH block at the AIIMS Guwahati campus. We believe integrating traditional and alternative medicine facilities is essential for a holistic healthcare model. The architecture of this block reflects this ethos, with a design that is functional yet serene.
About this collection
When planning a greenfield medical campus, we don't start with the building; we start with the circulation and site dynamics. By using a core-envelope strategy, we ensure clinical departments are linked efficiently while allowing each block to expand independently as your hospital grows, preventing the need for costly future re-zoning.
Designing a greenfield hospital is about anticipating the future of care. Our master plans prioritize operational flow, placing high-intensity zones like emergency and diagnostic units to minimize transit times for both staff and patients.
We utilize solar-passive layouts and vernacular drainage systems, as seen in our work with AIIMS Guwahati, to manage regional climate challenges. This reduces long-term operational costs and environmental impact, ensuring the facility remains resilient against changing conditions.
A hospital is a living entity. Our modular approach ensures that while we design for immediate capacity, the infrastructure remains ready for phase-wise expansion, integrating academic, residential, and clinical zones without disrupting daily operations.
From LEED Platinum targets to GRIHA ratings, our focus remains on high-performance facades and energy-efficient systems that serve both the institution's bottom line and the well-being of the patients within. Whether it is a 500-bed institute like Pragma in Bathinda or a massive 190-acre campus, we treat every project as a balance between technological precision and the human experience.
