Trademarks: Not Always Straightforward

We get asked a lot about the trademark registration process in India, especially for names. Here’s the thing - most surnames just aren’t “unique” enough to trademark. If your name is something like ‘Sharma’, it’s almost never going to work. But, if your surname is super rare or everyone thinks of your business when they hear it, you might have a shot. It’s tricky and needs real talk, not just legal jargon.

Also, about brand logo legal protection: if a store ever charges you for a bag with their logo, that’s not cool. The law actually says that’s unfair trade. You shouldn’t pay extra for their advertising.

Now, ten years down, our team’s grown into a real family. Watching interns turn into confident lawyers - those are our proud moments, even if we get a bit teary when they move on. Grateful is an understatement.
