Original Abstract Art and Sculptures
I create textured paintings and clay sculptures from my Chembur studio. My work is about honesty, raw emotion, and finding the beauty in the messy process of creation.
The Hanuman sculpture, after the initial sculpting and detailing. Here you can see the intricate calligraphy work I carved into the clay body before firing. This piece was a long journey of patience and shifting ideas.
New things take time. This video shows the work-in-progress of my Hanuman sculpture, from the initial shaping of the head to the assembly of the body. Rushing it didn't feel right; it needed time to evolve.
The Hanuman sculpture after its first firing (bisque firing). At this stage, the clay has turned white and is hard but still porous, ready for glazing or final touches.
Another angle of the wet clay sculpture of Hanuman. Capturing the serene and meditative expression was the most important part of this piece for me.
The very beginning of the process. Every sculpture starts with a sketch. Here is my initial drawing in my sketchbook next to the first pieces of clay being shaped.
A look inside the sculpture. To ensure it fires properly without cracking, large clay pieces need to be hollowed out. This shows the hollow body and the head before they were joined.
A commissioned Farsi/Persian couplet, beautifully framed and hanging in my friends' home. Seeing my art become a part of someone's daily life is the most rewarding feeling.
Another view of the calligraphy artwork in its home setting, complementing the modern and eclectic decor of the space.
A tour of my personal art gallery and studio space. This is my temple, my home, a place where I can live with my work and allow it to shape me every day.
Exploring and experimenting with texture. Here, I'm adding embroidery to one of my abstract paintings, stitching directly into the canvas to create a new layer of depth and detail.
About Original Art: Paintings & Sculptures
Bringing a custom painting or sculpture into your home is a collaboration. We start with a conversation about the specific space you are filling and the emotions you want to invite into that room. I walk you through the color palette and texture options before I start, ensuring the piece fits the energy of your home, not just the dimensions of your wall.
My process is rarely linear. When you commission an abstract painting, we begin by defining your core color palette and the mood you are looking for. I provide two work-in-progress photo updates during the creation process, so you see the layers building and the texture forming. I use heavy body acrylics and texture paste for my paintings, creating pieces that have depth and weight, ranging from 18x24 inches up to 36x36 inches for larger statements. All canvases are gallery-wrapped with painted edges, so they arrive ready to hang.
With my sculptures, the process is even slower. They require patience, waiting for the clay to dry and fire correctly. Whether it is a figurative piece like my Hanuman studies or a more abstract form, these sculptures are hand-built rather than molded. They are pieces that carry the marks of the human hand. If you are looking for art that has grit, history, and a soul, I would love to talk about what we can create together.
