About

We’ve built Kānike Studio around the idea that art is a gift, something you share and enjoy in good company. Our space is all about the charm of handmade, analog work, and celebrating the quirks that come with it.

What Happens Here

  • Small, cozy groups (6-8 people max) for that personal, friendly vibe.
  • Run by practicing artists who actually love what they do.
  • Expect lemon chai breaks, laughter, and room to focus or chat.
  • Anyone curious about art is welcome - no experience required.

What You Can Try

  • Handmade printmaking class: Woodcut, block printing, and Cyanotype sun-prints. Sometimes, we even help you build a camera from scratch.
  • Pottery hand-building session: Messy hands, clay everywhere, and the joy of making something from nothing. We do quirky stuff like ear sculpting, too.
  • Leathercraft and bookbinding: Make your own wallet, journal cover, or a totally unique notebook.
  • Natural ink making workshop: Extract colors from flowers and peels, then paint with them.
  • Beginner-friendly calligraphy course: Meditative, slow, and honestly pretty relaxing.

How We Roll

  • Most workshops are for adults and total beginners.
  • Materials, tools, snacks? Sorted.
  • Just bring your curiosity. Maybe an old tee if you want to go wild with paint or clay.

We keep things chill, hands-on, and real. If you’re looking to try something different and meet folks who feel the same, this is your spot.

My Story

We started Kanike in 2019, calling it a 'gift' - just like the word means in Kannada. This studio’s got its own vibe now, full of handmade, analog messiness we love. Our logo’s got old Kannada script feels, mixing past and present. Some of the best days? Teaching cyanotype to kids in Garike village, watching them run wild with it. Orma Petti (memory box) sits here, holding bits of everyone. We’re all about stories, co-creating, and just letting things happen.

My Work

Creative Events & Workshops - We host hands-on workshops like cyanotype photography, leathercraft, book-making, woodcut printmaking, and more.

Open to All - No need to be a pro. Anyone curious about making things is welcome. Small groups, all materials provided.

Analog & Handmade Focus - We love ink, wood, darkrooms – old-school techniques that bring a special kind of magic.

Community & Collaboration - We team up with local and international artists, run residencies, and get involved in community projects.
