Kanike
4.9k
A portrait here isn’t just a photo - it’s a kaṇike (gift). I make images you can actually hold, not just swipe past. The whole vibe is slower, more thoughtful, and yes, a bit unpredictable. If you’re tired of digital sameness, this is something else.
I use a big old camera and pour chemicals onto glass or metal plates by hand. The process is from the 1850s, so it’s got real old-school charm. You’ll sit with me in the studio, hold still for a bit, and see your image appear like magic in the developer. The session takes around 45 minutes, and it’s more chill than stressful.
You walk out with a one-of-a-kind analog portrait session result: a 4x5 inch plate, silver-rich and moody. Each piece is different - the chemicals make their own marks, so no two ever look the same. It’s a keepsake, not just a picture.
I also play with cyanotypes (deep blue), albumen and salt prints for special commissions. If you’ve got a wild idea or want something truly custom, let’s talk.
Musicians, artists, or anyone who wants more than a regular photo. If you want moody vintage portraits or something that lasts, this is for you. Not for those in a rush, but perfect if you want a portrait with a story.
