About

Why I Photograph Nature

Finding peace in the wild is my thing. I’m Mandar from Mumbai, and being behind the camera gives me a reason to slow down and really look at the world around me. Birds are my obsession - especially the ones that surprise you, like the tiny Oriental Dwarf Kingfisher, which is a total colour blast, or the kingfisher with its classic swag.

What I Shoot

It’s mostly birds, no lie. I’m big on bird action photography - catching a kingfisher mid-dive or a falcon on the move never gets old. Sometimes I get lucky with intimate moments, like a mama bird feeding babies. I also do close, vibrant wildlife portraits, showing off all that crazy feather detail.

But I’m not just about birds. You’ll catch me chasing squirrels, watching garden lizards, or getting up close for nature macro shots of butterflies and bugs. Basically, if it moves or glows in the wild, I’ll try to shoot it.

My Style & Gear

Here’s how I roll: patience is key, and I’m always chasing good light - that golden hour magic, yaar! I use bokeh to keep the animal sharp and the background soft. My Sony A7RIV and 200-600mm lens let me get crisp shots without getting in the way.

Where I Wander

Mumbai’s got hidden wild spots - Panvel wetlands, Tamhini, Karnala. I travel all over Maharashtra and sometimes further, like Dandeli in Karnataka, to find new stories. If you want prints or need someone who actually loves the wild for a project, I’m open for a chat.

My Story

Hey, I'm Mandar. Most days you’ll spot me in camo, lying low with my Sony, waiting for that kingfisher splash or a monkey just chilling. Mumbai wetlands, Matheran hills, Dandeli forests—nature’s my hangout. Not just birds, sometimes a lizard or a stray dog gets the spotlight. I’m all about catching those tiny, wild moments. Even if nothing shows up, I just sit and soak it in. Every frame’s got a story.

My Work

Wildlife & Nature Photography - I mostly shoot birds in their natural spots, but catch mammals, reptiles, insects too.

Sony Camera & Telephoto Lens - Use a Sony A7RIV and 200-600mm lens for crisp close-ups, no trouble for the animals.

My Style - Patience is my thing. I look for beauty in the ordinary, action in the wild, birds in flight photography.

Locations - Based in Mumbai, birding in Navi Mumbai, Panvel, Karnala, sometimes Dandeli for new wildlife.
