Cinematic Lighting Workshops & Industry Events
Get hands-on training with the same lighting gear and techniques we use on major film sets in Mumbai.
The official poster for our 'LUMEN MASTERS' workshop, hosted at our Mumbai facility. These events bring together aspiring filmmakers and industry partners like Sony for hands-on learning and networking.
We bridge the gap between students and manufacturers. Here, we feature the new Creamsource Vortex 8 and announce an upcoming live chat with the company's CEO, providing direct access to expert knowledge.
Our influence extends beyond the set into industry publications. We are proud to be featured contributors in 'Collected Light: Volume Three', a book celebrating women in entertainment lighting.
About Knowledge Hub: Workshops & Industry Events
We don't do theory-heavy lectures at our Charkop warehouse. Our workshops are designed to get you behind the fixtures—like the Creamsource Vortex8—and troubleshooting real-world lighting protocols. You will be working with the same gear, CRMX setups, and rigging challenges we encounter daily on professional film sets, rather than sitting through slide presentations.
Bridging the Gap Between Classroom and Set
Most lighting training is purely theoretical, but the reality on set involves load balancing, fuse blowouts, and rain-proofing gear. Our masterclasses are built on decades of experience, starting from our early days on films like Salaam Bombay to current digital productions. Whether you are a student or a working professional looking to upskill, our training mimics the pressure and precision required on a real film crew.
What You Will Master
Our curriculum focuses on the technical skills that actually matter for a career as a gaffer or lighting technician:
- Modern LED Workflows: Hands-on experience with RGBACL LED engines, mastering their color output and physical handling.
- Protocols and Control: Real-world drills on CRMX, LumenRadio, and DMX control using wireless apps like Blackout.
- Electrical Safety: Understanding the difference between single and 3-phase power, essential for managing larger HMI setups safely.
- Rigging and Grip: Techniques for C-stands, trusses, and mounting heavy HMI fixtures in challenging environments.
The Community Aspect
Lighting is a collaborative sport. Through our 'Lumen Masters' series, we facilitate networking between aspiring filmmakers, established DoPs, and manufacturers like Sony and Creamsource. We also actively support initiatives like the Indian Women Cinematographers' Collective, ensuring that technical knowledge and opportunities are shared across the industry. Our goal is not just to sell a course, but to ensure you are ready to pick up a light meter and lead a crew on day one.
