I believe art belongs everywhere, not just within gallery walls. These projects highlight my efforts to place meaningful Indian contemporary art in transit hubs and historical institutions, making high-quality works accessible to everyone.

A wide installation view of 'Parimala Prasada' by Pushpamala N. at Terminal 2 of the Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru. This series of seven archival prints creates a powerful narrative wall in a major public space.

A closer view of four prints from Pushpamala N.'s 'Parimala Prasada' series. This photo-performance work, acquired by the airport, explores themes of female identity and modernity through a vintage aesthetic.

The remaining three prints from the 'Parimala Prasada' series, showing the narrative progression of the characters. Placing art of this caliber in an airport introduces it to thousands of travelers daily.

About Beyond the Gallery: Public Art & Museum Projects

When I place a work like Pushpamala N.’s ‘Parimala Prasada’ in a bustling terminal like Kempegowda Airport, it changes the entire space. It stops travelers in their tracks, turning a transit zone into a moment of reflection. My goal is not just to display works, but to integrate them into the rhythm of daily life where people least expect to find them.

Expanding art beyond the gallery is a responsibility I take seriously. It forces us to think about how art survives outside a quiet, climate-controlled room.

Art in Transit: Kempegowda International Airport

My work with the Bengaluru airport focuses on large-scale installations that can hold their own against the noise and movement of international travel. For Terminal 2, we worked to install ‘Parimala Prasada’, a set of seven archival prints that explore modern identity. We also introduced Arunkumar H. G.’s ‘Impinged II’, a sculpture made from recycled materials, to the boarding pier. These pieces are designed to be durable yet thought-provoking, offering a pause in a place designed for speed.

Historical Dialogues: The Indian Museum, Kolkata

Public art is not just about modern spaces; it is also about bridging history. Working with institutions like The Indian Museum in Kolkata allows me to present the works of artists like Vivek Vilasini alongside centuries of heritage. In the 'Dialogues Across Time' exhibition, we saw how contemporary artistic expressions can stand beside historical collections, creating a conversation between the past and the present.

Why This Matters

My work in this sector focuses on three things:

  • Accessibility: Moving art from private homes to spaces where thousands of people pass by daily.
  • Integration: Ensuring the installation respects the architecture of the venue, whether it is a glass terminal or a heritage building.
  • Dialogue: Providing context so that a traveler or a student can understand the story behind the piece, even without a gallery guide.

If you are looking to place art in a corporate office, a public space, or a museum collection, my experience lies in managing the logistics—from initial site assessment to professional installation.

I have spent over two decades in Wilson Garden, Bangalore, building a home for art that makes you stop and look again. When I am not managing exhibitions in my gallery, I am working to place these bold stories where they can reach travelers and history lovers alike.
