About Bharatanatyam Performances
Why I Dance
Some days I wake up excited to dance, some days it’s just tough. But honestly, Bharatanatyam is how I figure out my place in the world. It’s not just steps and music for me - it’s about connecting with something way older and bigger than myself. Like the old Bengali line, chinmoyi esheche mrinmoyi rupe (the eternal in an earthen form), I feel like I’m carrying forward stories through movement.
What I Bring to the Stage
My performances swing from old-school traditional to totally contemporary Bharatanatyam choreography. Sometimes it’s just me - solo Bharatanatyam recital, exploring classic items like Alarippu, Jathiswaram, Varnam, Thillana. Other times, I go personal with themes like identity or bring poetry alive on stage.
When it’s a bigger group, I love creating productions that dig into bigger questions. Stuff like climate change (Ikshana) or celebrating Bengal’s river culture (Sonar Bangla) with live orchestra Bharatanatyam and artists from all over. I’ve done these shows everywhere from intimate baithaks to international festivals.
How I Work
Every show starts with a spark - a poem, a feeling, a question. I spend a lot of time researching, rehearsing, and working with musicians or other artists. Sometimes I experiment, like mixing Bharatanatyam with Western music. I’m mostly based in Delhi/NCR but you’ll find me performing across India and abroad, from small cultural gigs to big festival stages.

My Story
You know, people get confused when I say I’m crazy about math and history. But dance is where it all mixes up for me - it’s my way to connect ideas, make sense of life. I’m always tweaking steps, even last minute, and honestly, some days I just want to crash. But dance gives me purpose, it’s my pehchaan. I’m a sucker for handloom sarees and adrak chai, and backstage moments with friends are pure gold. My soul? It’s like an orchestra, and dance is me trying to hear every instrument inside.
My Work
Bharatanatyam performances & choreography - I perform solo and with my group, create new thematic Bharatanatyam choreography for events.
Storytelling through dance - I explore stories from mythology, Sangam poetry, and even themes like climate crisis in my productions.
Workshops & teaching - I run Bharatanatyam workshops for beginners and regular classes, sharing what I’ve learnt as an eternal student.
Collaboration & teamwork - Every show is a team effort - I love working with fellow dancers, musicians, and artists to create something real.
