Don't just buy jewellery; invest in it with confidence. From decoding BIS hallmarks to choosing the right caratage, here is everything you need to know before your next purchase.

Always check for hallmarking to guarantee the purity of your gold. This graphic explains the different marks of a BIS Hallmark, including the BIS logo, the caratage (like 916 for 22K gold), and the jeweller's identification mark.

Purity matters when it comes to gold. This educational post explains the karat system, clarifying that 24K is pure but soft, while 22K and 18K gold offer greater durability for jewellery because they are mixed with alloys.

Your trust is earned through reputation. When investing in jewellery, it is important to choose manufacturers like me who are known for quality, ethical sourcing, and exquisite craftsmanship.

About Know Your Jewellery

Always check for the BIS Hallmark—it is the non-negotiable standard for purity. In our Zaveri Bazaar workshop, every 22K gold piece we produce is laser-inscribed with a unique HUID code. This code verifies the gold content and traces it directly back to a government-approved assay center, ensuring you never pay for substandard metal or hidden impurities.

Decoding Gold Purity

Many buyers are confused by the difference between 24K and 22K gold. Pure 24K gold is soft, making it unsuitable for daily wear jewellery, as it bends and scratches easily. For ornaments, we use 22K (916) or 18K gold. These are alloys—gold mixed with small amounts of copper, zinc, or silver to provide the durability needed for intricate designs.

Why the BIS Hallmark Matters

When you buy hallmarked jewellery, you are paying for certified quality. A proper BIS Hallmark consists of three essential marks:

  • The BIS Logo: The mark of the Bureau of Indian Standards.
  • Purity Grade: For example, '916' indicates 22K gold, meaning 916 parts gold per 1000.
  • HUID (Hallmark Unique ID): A six-digit alphanumeric code that is unique to every single piece of jewellery. This allows you to track the history of the item and verify its purity instantly.

The Advantage of Buying from the Manufacturer

When you work with a manufacturing unit like Sunbera, you bypass traditional retail markups. You get raw manufacturing costs, transparency in gold rates, and the ability to customize designs from scratch. Whether you need a specific weight for a custom ring or a bulk order for your store, buying direct means you know exactly where your gold comes from. We provide BIS certification with every piece, giving you the documentation needed for future buybacks or exchanges at prevailing market rates.
