About Editorial Styling
What Editorial Styling Means to Me
For me, styling is all about turning a mood or a wild idea into a visual kahaani (story). I don’t just pick outfits - I help brands, magazines, and artists shape a vibe that actually says something. Sometimes it’s edgy, sometimes it’s soft, but it’s always about making the vision feel real.
How I Work
- We start with the core idea. Is it bold, dreamy, or something totally offbeat? I love brainstorming and figuring out the exact mood.
- I bring in a team - photographers, makeup, hair - because honestly, the best shoots are always a group effort.
- I handle the nitty-gritty: finding the right clothes, layering jewelry, and making sure every detail fits the story. Even the tiniest thing, like a vintage prop or a gajra (flower garland), can change the whole feel.
Some Stories I’ve Styled
- Modern, powerful looks for GQ India - think sharp co-ords, chunky boots, and a bit of quirk.
- Glam and drama for Elle India - deep purple gowns, bold reds, and spotlight moments.
- Timeless royalty with Zeenat Aman - floral prints, pearls, and all-out regal vibes.
- Soft, romantic brand campaigns - golden hour light, traditional touches, and creative direction for photoshoots.
My Style
I don’t stick to one box. Thoda edgy, thoda traditional (a bit edgy, a bit traditional) - I mix it up. I’m all about collaboration and sweating the small stuff, because that’s what makes a high fashion editorial look actually work.

My Story
Sometimes I still can’t believe it, yaar. Was just a girl talking to the stars, now my work’s on the Cannes red carpet. Watching Anushka Sen shine there? Pure magic. This year, I finally opened my studio, Style by Kayal - A-505, right here in Mumbai. My heart’s in this studio, between crazy deadlines and silly mirror selfies. Whether I’m styling legends or just myself, it’s about that ‘just right’ feeling.
My Work
What I Do - I’m a freelance fashion stylist and brand consultant - red carpet celebrity styling, editorial fashion shoots, commercial campaign styling, magazine covers.
How I Work - It’s all about collaboration. I want to create core memory outfit moments, not just pretty looks.
Who I Click With - Best work happens with people who trust the process and want to make something special together.
The Real Studio Life - Not always glam. Lots of coffee, comfy clothes, chaos, and hours of planning behind every look.
