Puja time means matching outfits and homemade treats for Posto. Here is how we blend our Bengali traditions with our furry family member’s needs.

This Ganesh Chaturthi, we made sure Posto could join the festivities with his own special treat. Here is our recipe for dog-friendly besan laddus, made with no sugar, jaggery, or honey. Just wholesome ingredients for our boy.

Another festive recipe for our boy. For Ganesh Chaturthi, we made these high-protein vegetarian laddus with homemade paneer, sweet potato, and beetroot. A healthy treat for both Ganpati Bappa and our pet.

Wishing everyone a very Happy Ganesh Chaturthi from our family. Posto is all dressed up and ready to celebrate with his special dog-friendly laddus.

On Janmashtami, we celebrate the bond of a mother and child. I may not be Devaki, but I am Posto's Yashoda. This is a message for all pet mothers celebrating their love.

About Festivals & Family Traditions

When celebrating festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi or Janmashtami, the biggest challenge is finding treats that are safe for pets. We avoid sugar, jaggery, and honey entirely. Instead, we use homemade paneer, sweet potato, or besan to create festive laddus that Posto can enjoy as prasad without any tummy issues or health risks.

Festivals are a chaotic, beautiful, and sometimes overwhelming time for pets. Whether it is the loud music, the unfamiliar guests, or the temptation of festive food, keeping your pet happy is a balancing act. We believe in inclusion. For us, that means finding ways to involve Posto in every tradition, from getting him a matching kurta for the puja to making sure he has his own bowl of healthy, pet-safe prasad.

Preparing for Pet-Friendly Celebrations

  • The Food: We never share human sweets with Posto. Dates, chocolate, and excess sugar are toxic for dogs. We prepare specific, high-protein recipes using ingredients like besan (chickpea flour), beetroot, and sweet potato.
  • The Noise: During festivals, noise can be a nightmare for sensitive ears. We create a safe 'calm zone' in our home where Posto can retreat if he gets anxious.
  • The Outfits: Getting your pet dressed up is cute, but comfort comes first. We ensure the fabric is breathable and the fit doesn't restrict his movement or breathing.
  • The Guests: We always tell our guests not to feed the dog without asking. It prevents accidental feeding of harmful ingredients during the chaos.

Our approach is simple: observe your pet's comfort levels first. If he is happy, the festival is a success for everyone.

I’m Tiu, and for me, a festival just isn't complete unless Posto is right there with us, wearing his little kurta and waiting for his share of the prasad. My life revolves around making sure my dog-son and my human-son grow up together, embracing our Bengali roots and making sure no one feels left out of the celebrations.
