About Classical Music Education for Children & Youth
Why We Do What We Do
Music’s been at the heart of our foundation for three decades. We’re all about Western classical music, but honestly, it’s more than just notes and scales. It’s about giving kids a space to grow, mess up, and find their own sound. Some days are magical, some are just noisy - but that’s how real learning happens.
How We Teach
Our teachers get trained by international experts, so you’re in good hands. We keep things playful, especially for the little ones. Rhythm games, movement, and hands-on fun with percussion instruments and props - it’s not stiff or boring. For early childhood music classes, we even have parent-toddler sessions. Parents join in, and it’s a blast watching them bond with their kids over music.
The Journey
Kids start with basics - pulse, rhythm, listening. Then, if they’re ready, they can dive into violin, cello, or piano. It’s not just solo practice; we push for ensemble work, youth orchestra training, and choir programs for teens. Our Singing Tree Choirs are open to all ages, and performing together builds confidence like nothing else.
Performance & Beyond
We don’t just stay in the classroom. Students perform at our concerts, annual showcases, and sometimes at big public events. Masterclasses with legends like Zubin Mehta or Lang Lang? Yeah, those happen. Collaborations with the Symphony Orchestra of India and international choirs are rare, but when they do, it’s unforgettable.

My Story
We’re the Mehli Mehta Music Foundation, thirty years and still singing. Started as a tribute to Mehli Mehta and his son Zubin - honestly, if Zubin wasn’t around, we wouldn’t be either. Our book ‘Encore’ has all the memories. Watching kids go from Discover Music classes, tiny hands on instruments, to big moments on NCPA stage, that’s our joy. Sometimes legends drop by, sometimes our students play with orchestras, and it’s wild. Music’s in our bones, past and future.
