My Guru, My Lineage

Everything I teach comes from one source: my Guruji, Padmavibhushana Dr. B.K.S. Iyengar. These photographs are a testament to the time I spent learning directly from the master. This is not yoga I learned from a book; it is knowledge I received through years of direct, rigorous instruction.

Chair Yoga: Support for Deeper Asanas

In Iyengar yoga, a simple chair is one of our most versatile tools. It is not a crutch, but an instrument for understanding alignment and achieving postures that might otherwise be inaccessible. The chair helps to isolate actions, support the body, and build intelligence in the muscles.

Rope Work: Traction and Extension

The yoga ropes, or yoga kurunta, are a signature of the Iyengar method. They are used to create traction and space in the body, particularly in the spine. Ropes allow for supported inversions and backbends, helping to decompress the vertebrae and build strength without compression.

Foundational Asanas

These are the building blocks of a strong yoga practice. This collection shows a range of standing, seated, and floor-based postures performed without props. Mastery of these fundamental asanas builds the physical strength, flexibility, and bodily intelligence required for more advanced work.

Advanced Asanas: Arm Balances and Inversions

This cluster showcases asanas that require a high degree of strength, balance, and mental focus. These are not for beginners, but they demonstrate the potential of a dedicated Iyengar yoga practice. My classes build the foundational strength and intelligence step-by-step to approach such postures safely.

Seated Twists and Bends

This series focuses on asanas performed while seated, which are essential for spinal health, digestion, and calming the nervous system. We use props like bolsters, blankets, and belts to ensure correct alignment and allow the body to release into the posture effectively.
