On the Ground: My Fight in the Streets and Slums
My work is not confined to courtrooms. I go directly to the communities, slums, and streets where children are being denied their right to education, listening to their problems and empowering them to fight.
Securing Every Child's Admission
Schools often create illegal barriers to deny admission, whether for EWS students, children with disabilities, or those without documents. I use legal notices and court petitions (yachika) to ensure every child gets their rightful place.
Fighting Unfair Fees & Illegal Practices
Many private schools exploit parents through arbitrary fee hikes or illegally withholding Transfer Certificates (TC). I challenge these gairkanooni practices to protect both students and parents from financial shoshan.
The Legal Battle: In Court and in the News
The fight for education rights often leads to the High Court and Supreme Court. This is a look at my legal work, from filing RTIs and petitions to the media coverage that holds the system accountable.
Championing Teachers' Rights
A good education system cannot be built on the exploitation of its teachers. I fight for the rights of teachers in private schools, demanding job security, fair pay, and an end to their shoshan.
Exposing Poor School Infrastructure
A child's education is not just about admission, it's about a safe learning environment. I inspect schools to expose poor infrastructure and hold authorities accountable for their neglect.
Broader Activism and Public Life
My commitment to social justice extends beyond the classroom. This includes my work with the All India Parents Association (AIPA), supporting other movements, and my role in public service.
Mentoring Future Lawyers
I believe in training the next generation of lawyers to continue this fight for justice. Here are some of the bright law aspirants who have interned with me, learning the ropes of public interest litigation.
From the Archives
A look back at some moments from my long journey of over 40 years in activism and law. These images from the past remind me of the battles fought and the road that still lies ahead.
