Alaap Sangeet Sabha: Our Community
Music is a journey we take together. At Alaap Sangeet Sabha, we learn, perform, and celebrate as a family, from our traditional baithaks to the spiritual grace of our Saraswati Pooja.

About this collection
When you join us, you are not just signing up for lessons. We gather regularly for baithaks and annual Gurupoornima celebrations, where the youngest students sit alongside advanced learners. It is not about perfect performance here, but about sharing the joy of music in a space where everyone supports each other.
At Alaap Sangeet Sabha, the music flows differently because the community is part of the teaching process. We follow the traditional Guru-Shishya Parampara, but we make sure the environment feels like a home. Whether you are a complete beginner or looking to refine your technique, our space is designed for comfort and connection.
We start every new phase with a Saraswati Pooja, which reminds us that music is a gift we must respect. The real learning often happens when students watch each other grow. You will find kids like Sharannya practicing with the same focus as our adult students, and that energy is infectious. We hold regular baithaks, which are informal gatherings where we perform for one another. This helps remove the fear of the stage and builds confidence. This is a space to learn at your own pace, away from the pressure of typical classrooms. We believe that when you learn in a supportive group, your progress is faster and your relationship with the sitar becomes much deeper.
Vijay Gonahal
I am Vijay, and for me, Alaap Sangeet Sabha is my world. Seeing my students grow, from their first hesitant notes to performing on stage at our Gurupoornima events, is what keeps me going. This is not just a school, it is a family where we share the flame of music.
