Understanding Breast Reduction Surgery
Breast reduction is often a medical necessity to relieve chronic back, neck, and shoulder pain. My team and I focus on a science-backed approach to help you achieve comfort and better posture.
There are different surgical approaches to breast reduction, and we choose the one best suited for you. This illustration shows two common styles, detailing the incision patterns and the areas where excess breast tissue is removed to achieve the desired size and shape.
This diagram provides a clear before-and-after look at the anchor incision technique for a breast lift and reduction. It shows how we remove excess skin and reposition the nipple to create a higher, firmer breast profile, which can significantly alleviate physical discomfort.
About Understanding Breast Reduction Surgery
When you are dealing with chronic back, neck, and shoulder pain, surgery becomes a step toward regaining your quality of life. During our consultation, we don't just talk about the size; we assess your specific anatomy to determine whether an anchor or lollipop incision will provide the most natural, proportionate, and comfortable outcome for your body.
More Than Just Appearance
Many patients come to me frustrated with physical limitations. If you are struggling with daily tasks, exercise, or constant discomfort, surgery can provide significant relief. My goal is to help you feel lighter and more at ease in your skin.
The Surgical Process
Safety is the absolute priority. I oversee your care from the very first meeting, but the actual procedure is performed by my highly skilled surgical team, including Dr. Sumit Agrawal and Dr. Shruti Gautam.
We utilize two primary techniques based on your individual needs:
- Anchor Incision (Inverted-T): Often used for larger reductions, this method allows for significant tissue removal and creates a new, firm breast profile.
- Lollipop Technique: Best suited for moderate reductions, this technique involves a circular incision around the areola and a vertical line down, resulting in minimal scarring.
What to Expect
This is not a quick fix or a lunch-break procedure. A typical surgery takes 3-5 hours under general anesthesia with a qualified MD anesthetist monitoring your vitals. Your package includes a 24-hour stay in a private recovery room, ensuring you have professional nursing care immediately after surgery.
Recovery and After-Care
The real work starts after the surgery. You will need to wear a medical-grade compression bra for 4-6 weeks to support the tissue as it heals. We include routine check-ups for 3 months, where we manage scar tissue and monitor your healing progress. Please do not rush this decision. We will walk you through your medical history and specific goals before we finalize any plan.
