Most students ask me why their work doesn't look as finished as mine. The secret isn't just one product—it's layering. When creating a hairstyle, don't wait until the end to spray. Use a shine spray like Osis+ and a hold spray together, section by section, as you style. It locks in the hair immediately, keeps flyaways down, and builds the structure you need for those clean 3D lines.
My Go-To Prep & Products
Many of you ask how I get that perfect base for advanced styles. It starts with preparation. I always suggest light crimping to add texture—you don't need heavy crimping, just enough to give the hair grip. Once the base is ready, I use a specific combination of products. For sleek looks, I prefer gel because of the wet, polished finish it provides, but mousse is great for volume.
The 'Neatness' Secret
If you struggle with frizz, stop spraying only at the end of the hairstyle. Incorporate your shine and hold sprays while you work. By treating every section individually, you ensure the style holds from the inside out. This is how I maintain clean sections and that perfect 3D texture you see in my bridal work.
Lighting for Your Portfolio
Great hair is nothing if you can't capture it well. Don't worry about expensive gear; you can create a high-fashion look using just a single stick light and a dark backdrop. Turn off ambient lights, tilt your camera slightly from top to bottom, and let the stick light highlight the textures and accessories. I often use ring light stands for my main lights to save space in the studio.
