This is the first impression for a potential student. This collection is designed to showcase my artistic depth, teaching style, and the profound philosophy that underpins my practice.
The Practice Room: Jatis & Technique
This is where the foundation is built. Following the Vempati Chinna Satyam style, we focus on the essential building blocks of Kuchipudi, from basic footwork and postures to complex rhythmic compositions known as jatis. The goal is to develop strength, precision, and a deep understanding of the dance's technical vocabulary.
Abhinaya: Dancing the Poem
My abhinaya masterclasses are where we translate poetry into the language of dance. We explore compositions by poets like Meera Bai, Annamacharya, and Tagore, focusing on how to embody the emotion and narrative of the text through subtle expression and gesture.
On Stage: Performances & Collaborations
The stage is where practice and passion come together. This collection features moments from my solo performances, collaborations with talented musicians and dancers, and productions that explore Kuchipudi from its traditional roots to its contemporary forms.
The Dancer's Discipline: Fitness & Conditioning
A dancer's body is their instrument, and maintaining it requires discipline beyond the dance studio. I believe in cross-training to build strength, prevent injury, and improve stamina, incorporating practices like yoga and core conditioning into my routine.
My Journey & Gurus
My path in dance has been an unlikely one, starting as a Bengali girl in the USA who fell in love with Kuchipudi. This is a personal look at my beginnings and a note of gratitude for the incredible teachers and mentors who have guided me.
The Healing Power of Dance
For me, dance is more than an art form; it is a way of healing and making sense of life. These are some of my personal reflections on how the practice of dance has provided discipline, joy, and strength during my most difficult times.
