About Kuchipudi Dance Performances
Why I Dance
Dance is my daily grind, my creative kick, and sometimes, honestly, a bit of a mess behind the scenes. It’s not all perfect - sweaty rehearsals, tiny details, and last-minute fixes. But when music, movement, and lights finally come together on stage, it feels worth it.
Kuchipudi - My Take
I specialize in Kuchipudi, the classical dance from Andhra Pradesh. My performances range from pure old-school to themes that push boundaries. For me, Kuchipudi isn’t just dance - it’s a mashup of music, poetry, textiles, and craft. I love how it’s shifted from an all-male dance-drama to the solo performances you see now.
What I Offer
- Kuchipudi solo recital - from classic pieces like the Tarangam (yep, that’s the brass plate one) to new thematic stories like Shiva-Shakti.
- Kuchipudi thematic performance - I often build shows around a central idea, mixing tradition and something fresh.
- Collabs are my jam. I’ve danced duets with Bharatanatyam artists and created multi-art shows with live music and painting.
- Major shows feature live orchestra (vocals, mridangam, violin, nattuvangam), pro lighting, and all the silk and jewelry that bring the stories alive.
Where You’ll Find Me
Based in Delhi/NCR, but I travel all over India for performances, from big festivals to small, private events.
What Drives Me
Aamar mone hoy, art is all about stories and connection. I’m here to share that piece of soul, one performance at a time.

My Story
I'm Amrita, dancer, mom, storyteller. My journey’s tangled up with Shlok—my late husband—who cheered me on, even in those sticky, no-AC Chennai basements. He’d get his hands on the mridangam, grinning away, filling our home with music and laughter. After he passed, art became my anchor. Now, every time I dance, it’s for my boys, for him, and for anyone who needs a bit of that magic.
My Work
Kuchipudi Performances & Workshops - I do solo and group Kuchipudi shows for events, plus run Kuchipudi dance workshops for anyone curious.
Collaborative Productions - Love mixing things up—like my 'Call of the Flute' that blends Kuchipudi, Pichwai painting, and live flute.
Storytelling through Dance - I tell stories, from Krishna’s leelas to Rabindra Sangeet, making each performance about feeling and connection.
Teaching & Process - It’s all in the details. I enjoy sweating the small stuff, sharing that with students, and finding joy in the practice.
