The Baithak: An Intimate Musical Dialogue

Nothing compares to the energy of a traditional baithak or mehfil. In the closeness of a home or a small private room, the music breathes with the audience, creating a powerful connection that is perfect for connoisseurs who want a deep and distraction-free musical experience.

Jugalbandi: A Conversation Between Instruments

A jugalbandi is not a competition, but a baatcheet, a musical chat between different instruments. I love the spontaneous creativity that emerges when I team up with artists on the sarod, veena, or flute, creating something new and unexpected on stage every time.

Exploring New Sounds: Fusion & Collaborations

While my roots are in classical music, I love to explore new sonic landscapes. This includes my work with the contemporary classical group, The Anirudh Varma Collective, fusion projects with piano or drums, and collaborations with renowned singers like Rekha Bharadwaj and for theatre productions like the "Monsoon Wedding" musical.

The Sadhana: Practice, Riyaz, and Studio Sessions

A performance is the fruit of countless hours of 'sadhana' or dedicated practice. This collection offers a behind-the-scenes look at my daily 'riyaz' (practice), the creative process in the recording studio, and the quiet moments of discipline where I connect with my sitar and my music.
