Full Body Abhyanga & Detox Steam
The Massage (Abhyanga)
- Head & Foot Start: Begins with Shiro Abhyanga (Head massage) and Pada Abhyanga (Foot reflexology).
- Full Body Application: 45 minutes of rhythmic strokes using generous amounts of warm, dosha specific medicated oil.
- Technique: Focus on Marma points (vital energy points) to release blocked energy and reduce body pain.
Detox Steam (Swedana)
- Wooden Steam Box: 10 to 15 minute session inside a traditional wooden chamber with the head outside to keep the brain cool while herbal steam induces sweating.
Amenities
- Shower: Access to a basic attached bathroom with hot water and herbal soap (green gram powder) to wash off the oil.
- Refreshment: A glass of warm Jeera water or herbal tea post therapy.
Targeted Joint Pain Relief (Basti Therapy)
Consultation & Prep
- Assessment: Brief pulse check to select the appropriate herbal oil (e.g., Mahanarayana Thailam).
- Attire: Changing into provided disposable inner wear (langot).
The Procedure (Basti)
- Dough Dam Construction: Creation of a leak proof reservoir using black gram dough over the affected area (Lower Back, Knee, or Neck).
- Oil Pooling: Retention of warm medicinal oil in the reservoir for 30 to 35 minutes. The therapist sponges out cooling oil and replaces it with warm oil to maintain temperature.
- Localized Massage: Gentle 5 to 10 minute massage of the specific area after oil removal.
Post Therapy
- Hot Fomentation: Application of a hot water rubber bag or herbal steam to the specific spot to loosen stiff muscles.
- Clean up: Wiping off excess oil. Washing the area immediately is usually not recommended to allow oil absorption.
Shirodhara Stress Relief Therapy
Preparation
- Selection: Consultation to decide between Oil (Shirodhara for Anxiety) or Buttermilk (Takradhara for Migraines/Heat).
- Positioning: Lying down on a wooden table (Droni) with neck support and eyes covered to prevent oil seepage.
The Flow (Dhara)
- Rhythmic Pouring: Continuous oscillating movement of warm liquid over the forehead (Third Eye region) for 40 to 45 minutes.
- Head Massage: Simultaneous gentle scalp manipulation to stimulate blood circulation.
Post Treatment Care
- Rest Period: 10 minutes of relaxation on the table to allow the system to stabilize.
- Hair Wash: Hot water bath availability. Note that Ayurvedic oils are sticky and may require 2 to 3 rounds of shampoo to fully remove residue.
- Drying: Therapist assistance with basic towel drying (no blow dry styling).
