I teach Pranayama the way my Guruji, Dr. B.K.S. Iyengar, showed me. Forty-five years in, I still believe in keeping things straight to the point. These guided yogic breathing sessions are about building real strength - not just looking fit, but feeling it in your bones and your mind. If you’re looking for fancy talk, this isn’t it.

What Happens in Class

  • We get into different breathing techniques, with a strong focus on the Iyengar pranayama online method. That means attention to detail, and props if needed. Sometimes you’ll hear me say, “Hagga hidibeku!” - that’s Kannada for “hold the rope!” because alignment matters.
  • Before we breathe, we prep the body. You’ll learn meditative seated postures so your foundation is solid.
  • Chairs, ropes, simple stuff - I show you how to use these so your body is supported and the breath work is exact.
  • Every session ends with restorative poses like Viparita Karani and Savasana. This is where the body really soaks up the practice.

What You Need to Know

Sunday morning pranayama class runs live, 7:00 to 8:00 AM IST. You’ll need to be present and focused - this isn’t the kind of class you can do half-hearted. Mistakes are fine, as long as you show up with honest effort. It’s a disciplined journey, not a quick fix.

My Story

Namaskara! I’m Madhava, been living and breathing yoga for 45+ years. Iyengar yoga runs in my veins, thanks to my Guru, Dr. B.K.S. Iyengar. Everything I teach comes straight from him. Yoga isn’t just exercise - it’s strength, immunity, and a sharp mind. My Bangalore Yoga Centre’s been home to many students, and Bellur, Guruji’s birthplace, is close to my heart. Whoever wants to learn, I’m here. Vishwa yoga dinacharaneya shubhashayagalu (Happy International Yoga Day).
