We don’t mess around with fancy moves you’ll never use. At Ippon Martial Arts & Fitness, I show you self-defence for real life. You walk out knowing how to handle tough situations, not just looking good in class. It’s hands-on, sweaty, and all about getting you ready for whatever comes your way.
Mostly, I run self-defence training for women and girls (ages 10 to 50), but honestly, these workshops are open to anyone who wants to learn. No need to be fit, no need to know anything about martial arts. If you can show up, I’ll teach you. The vibe is high-energy - we push each other, we laugh, we get serious when we need to.
We pack a lot into one hour - quick intro, warm-up, and then we get right into the basics. I break down practical techniques for common threats. You’ll learn how to defend, how to strike, and how to create space if things get ugly. We drill these until it sticks, so your body remembers even when your mind’s racing. Real-world threat response matters, and I don’t waste time on stuff that doesn’t work.
It’s not about fighting, really. It’s about walking out the door knowing you’re tougher than you thought. It’s about confidence, guts, and actually feeling empowered through martial arts. You leave feeling good, and maybe a little sore.
