About Your Hair Transplant Journey Explained
Choosing a hair transplant is a big decision, and it is normal to feel nervous. Many patients worry about the pain, but the only real discomfort is the initial local anesthesia pinch. We use fine insulin needles and vibrating devices to minimize this, so you can actually remain quite comfortable while we work on your hairline.
Preparation: Setting the Stage
Success starts before the surgery. One week before your procedure, you must stop smoking and consuming alcohol. If you use minoxidil or blood thinners, consult your doctor. Avoid applying heavy styling products like gel or oil three days before your appointment, as we need a clean, clear scalp to map your hairline accurately.
During the Procedure: What Happens in the OT
We focus on a 'no-shave' approach if you prefer discretion. Our team maps your donor area and recipient site to ensure natural density. We use either Sapphire blades for cleaner, precise incisions or Choi pens for DHI, depending on the plan we discuss. You will be conscious throughout, but because of our anesthesia combination, you won't feel the sharp pricks.
The Recovery Timeline
Post-op, the first 7 days are crucial. You must sleep in a semi-upright or supine position to manage swelling. Do not touch your scalp. We will provide a recovery kit with saline sprays and specific medications. You can perform your first gentle head wash on the seventh day. It is normal for the transplanted hair to shed within the first month; new growth typically begins around month three or four, with significant density visible by month nine.
Understanding Costs
We price based on the graft count and technique. A standard FUE using steel blades is more economical, while Sapphire FUE or DHI, which offer higher density and faster healing, are priced higher. Avoid choosing a clinic based solely on the lowest price, as the quality of the graft extraction and the artistry of the hairline design are what ultimately determine whether your result looks natural or artificial.
