- Duration: 45 to 60 minutes face-to-face with Head Coach Prashant Shetty.
- Location: Conducted in an off-field environment at the Bandra East or Shivaji Park facility office.
- Focus Area: Separation of technical skill issues (footwork) from psychological barriers (fear of failure).
The Positive Diary Analysis
- Review: Detailed analysis of the player's 'Positive Diary' entries to spot subconscious negative loops.
- Format Instruction: Teaching the specific journaling format used by elite players to reframe mistakes as opportunities.
Strategy Building
- Goal Setting: Creating specific milestones to shift from a survival mindset to a match-winning mindset.
- Roadmap: Development of a written or verbal action plan for the next month of practice.
On-Field Match Simulation & Pressure Training
Infrastructure & Setup
- Access: Priority usage of turf wicket nets or center wicket at Bandra/Virar complex.
- Resources: Includes 2 to 3 quality net bowlers or bowling machine for specific length targeting.
- Duration: 75 to 90 minutes of high intensity, stop-start tactical training.
Pressure Drills
- One Over Challenge: 6-ball spells with set fields where batters must hit specific run targets.
- Distraction Training: Coach applied pressure tactics including verbal sledging and aggressive instructions to test resilience.
- Scenarios: Simulation of specific game states like top-order collapses or last over finishes.
Tactical Execution
- Psychological Warfare: Instructions on 'Bluffing on Length' to confuse batters and using body language effectively.
- Game Awareness: Training on using environmental factors like wind direction and boundary dimensions.

I’ve learned that talent only gets you so far. In cricket, technique is important, but if your mind isn’t tough, big moments slip away. I keep saying, jo bhi aap karte ho, plan hona chahiye (whatever you do, you need a plan). That’s the core of what I do.

I ask every player to keep a positive diary, from juniors to international level. Write down daily learnings and wins, don’t dwell on mistakes. This habit builds mental toughness in athletes, making you strong when things get tough.

Success is a 10-year partnership. I work with parents too - closed workshops with top sports psychologists help you support your child, without adding pressure. Whether your kid hits a century or gets out for zero, your support should never change.
Small Things Win Matches
Chote-chote cheez hi match jitaate hain (the small things win matches). Learn to use wind direction, bowl lengths, and patience as psychological weapons. Sometimes, a batsman is just lucky - hum Marathi me bolte hain, 'asa batsman la sodun dya' (leave that batsman alone). Stick to the process, trust your plan.

Hi, main Prashant Shetty, founder of Kkalpavriksha Cricket Clinic. Bachpan se MIG Club mein cricket khela, phir Mumbai Ranji Trophy, aur ab 20 saal se coaching. Prithvi Shaw, Jemimah Rodrigues, Arjun Tendulkar – inko chhote se dekha hai. Ek cheez clear hai, yeh 10 saal ka safar hai, overnight kuch nahi hota. Parents ka support sabse important, chahe zero pe out ho ya 100 banaye. Ghar ka mahaul accha toh bacha champion banega. Mera maqsad – cricketers ko skill aur mind dono mein strong banana.
