The JhaJi Story: From Our Home to Yours

I'm Kalpana Jha. What started in my Darbhanga kitchen to share the taste of home has now become a mission. We empower over 70 women from our community, bringing authentic, handmade Mithila pickles to more than 250,000 homes across India.

Our Process: Sun, Spice, and Patience

We follow the traditional parampara of pickle making. Every fruit and vegetable is sun-dried for 10-15 days, then mixed with spices we roast and grind ourselves, and preserved in pure mustard oil. No machines, no preservatives, just the slow, time-tested methods of our nani-dadis.

A Taste of Childhood: Our Nostalgia Collection

These illustrations and stories are for everyone who remembers sneaking achar from the barni or helping dadi dry mangoes on the terrace. Each image is a memory, a simple joy from the days we thought were ordinary but now feel priceless.

Our Mango Pickles: The Taste of Summer

We make authentic Bihari mango pickles in several traditional styles. Try our spicy Mithila Special with whole chunks, the tangy Sookha Bharua (dry stuffed), the sweet and sour Khatt-Meethi chutney, or the sharp Kuccha Mango (grated). All are made with local Kalkatiya mangoes.

Spicy & Stuffed: Our Bharua Pickles

Bharua, or stuffed pickles, are a specialty of Mithila. We hand-stuff fresh, seasonal Banarasi red chillies with a dry roasted masala for our Lal Mirch Bharua. We also offer a unique Sookha Bharua Mango pickle.

Unique Mithila Flavours: Kathal, Oal, and More

Explore pickles you won't find everywhere. We make a chunky, meaty Kathal (Jackfruit) pickle, an earthy Grated Oal (Yam) pickle, and a tangy Amra (Hog Plum) pickle, all based on seasonal availability and traditional recipes.

Our Winter Specials

Winter brings its own special harvest, and we capture it in our seasonal pickles. Enjoy the immunity-boosting Amla (Gooseberry) pickle, the pungent Garlic Chilli Mix, the zesty Lemon Chilli Mix, and the fiery Spicy Green Chilli pickle. These are made in small batches and are only available during the season.
