About Pooja Flowers & Garden Blooms
Consistent blooms for your daily offerings depend on more than just sunlight. I use specific pruning techniques for hibiscus and jasmine that encourage healthy new growth, ensuring you have fresh flowers ready for your morning rituals throughout the entire flowering season.
Growing Flowers for Devotion
For many of us, the most meaningful flowers are the ones we nurture with our own hands. Offering homegrown jasmine or hibiscus to the divine brings a unique peace that store-bought flowers cannot replicate. In my garden in Anantapur, I focus on natural methods to keep my plants healthy and flowering, even in small container spaces.
My Approach to Flower Cultivation
- Jasmine (Malli): Jasmine thrives when it gets at least 5-6 hours of direct sunlight. I find that regular light pruning after each flowering cycle encourages the plant to put out more buds rather than just long, leggy stems.
- Hibiscus: These are heavy feeders. I use a mix of vermicompost and fermented rice water to keep the soil nutrient-rich. For pest control, I rely on neem oil, which keeps aphids away without harming the flower quality.
- Lotus and Lilies: Growing aquatic flowers like the lotus might seem intimidating, but the pot-in-pot method works wonders. Keeping the water clean with small fish helps prevent mosquito breeding and adds to the garden ecosystem.
Organic Care Tips
I believe in working with nature, not against it. My garden does not see a single chemical. Whether it is using homemade compost tea for nutrition or neem spray for pest management, everything is organic. When you start your own pooja garden, you create a space that is not only beautiful but also free from synthetic residues, making the flowers truly pure for your home temple. Start small with a single pot of jasmine and see how it transforms your daily routine.
