About

I'm Sengottuvel from Thammampatty, Salem. My family has been making wooden sculptures for over a hundred years. For us, it's not just about wood and tools - it's about keeping alive a craft that's part of our roots. Each piece I make carries that old-school Thammampatty touch.

What Sets My Work Apart

  • Every sculpture is handcrafted using techniques my ancestors used - nothing machine-made here.
  • We hold a GI (Geographical Indication) tag for Thammampatty artisan sculptures. That means you’re getting something truly unique to my region.
  • I carve with intention, focusing on the spiritual vibe of each piece.

What I Offer

  • Idols of Hindu and Buddhist deities: Ganesha (Nritya Ganapati, Mappillai Ganesha), Saraswati, Murugan, Krishna (Venugopal, with Radha), Lakshmi (including Gajalakshmi), Shiva-Parvati, Balaji, Hanuman, Buddha.
  • Mythological and decorative figures: Apsara Devi, mythical creatures like Yaali and Hamsa.
  • Finishes: Wax brown for a classic look, vibrant hand-painted, or antique finish if you want that old-world charm.
  • Sizes: From small 9.5-inch table pieces to giant 6-foot statues.

Real Talk

You’ll see small imperfections here and there - that’s how you know it’s handmade. Sometimes a piece takes longer if the wood acts stubborn or details are tricky. But I never rush; every statue gets my full attention.

From Workshop to You

I pack each piece myself, making sure it reaches you safe, whether you live in India or overseas. If you want something that's more than just decor, my custom wooden deity statues and hand-painted religious wooden figures bring a bit of Thammampatty's heritage right into your home.

My Story

We are Sengottuvel Wood Carvings, straight from Thammampatty. Our hands know this wood like an old friend. Every morning starts with sharpening chisels, not rushing, just finding the groove. We don’t just make sculptures – we carry our ancestors in every curve. GI tag? That’s proof, not a show-off. If you hold one of our panels, you’re holding a bit of us, a bit of Thammampatty, a carved memory really.

My Work

Handcrafted Temple Inspired Sculptures - We make GI-certified wooden idols, large panels, Yaali brackets, and custom wooden door entrances in natural or hand-painted antique finishes.

Authenticity from Thammampatty - Each piece shows our region’s GI tag, real proof of South Indian temple sculpture tradition.

Traditional Craft Process - From tool sharpening to final sanding, we work on pieces from tiny idols to 7-foot panels, all with realism.

Shipping Worldwide - We ship our heritage anywhere, so you can have a Sengottuvel carving wherever you live.
