I don’t see etiquette as following strict rules or being perfect. For me, it’s all about being graceful and kind - making people around you feel comfortable and respected. You don’t need to be flawless. If someone spills something, just smile and let it go. Real manners are about showing empathy, not pointing out mistakes.
Social gatherings can get tricky. I always say, peer pressure isn’t cool, and pushing someone isn’t fun for anyone. If your friend wants a mocktail, let them be. Someone on a diet? Don’t nudge them to eat. Got a shy friend? No need to make them sing or dance. The point is, let everyone enjoy in their own way. Respectful social interactions matter more than any party trick.
Places like hospitals need extra gentleness. I’ve been there myself. Instead of asking personal questions, I just offer a quiet smile or a small distraction. Sometimes, kindness is silent.
When it comes to dining, I’m all about context. I eat masala dosa with my hands - no shame in that! Cultural dining manners are different everywhere. Using chopsticks for sushi or a fork for steak? Fine by me. If you’re hosting, pick a menu that makes your expectations easy for guests.
Etiquette is really just kindness, being mindful, and letting people be themselves. That’s how I do things.
