I’m most at home behind the camera, out where the birds rule. Watching them, I get to tune out the noise and just soak in their drama - a crane scolding its chick, a peacock showing off, eagles having a go at each other. I’ve spotted and photographed 655 bird species so far, and I’m still counting.

• My photos are from the Himalayas, Konkan, Assam, the tiger country, and as far as the Masai Mara.
