About Hospitality & Restaurant Design
Our Way of Designing Spaces
For us, every restaurant, bar, or hotel is like a story waiting to unfold. I believe a hospitality space should feel memorable, not just look nice. That means I always start with a narrative - the whole vibe, the mood, even the little details - all driven by the story we want guests to feel when they walk in.
Local Touch, Real Craft
We love working with Indian craftspeople, even if it takes extra effort. Instead of factory-made stuff, we go for handmade decor for restaurants and bars - think Channapatna lacquer lights or Kutch terracotta tiles. It adds so much soul, especially when you see the results, like that wild lacquered wood ceiling at Lucky Chan or the massive handwoven light at Biergarten.
How We Work
- Narrative driven interiors, always tailored to the concept
- Indian artisan collaboration that brings heritage into modern design
- Natural materials: Sadharalli granite, terracotta, warm woods
- Custom lighting for restaurants, from moody jazz bars to playful diners
- Projects range from speakeasies to microbreweries to boutique hotels
The People Behind the Scenes
None of this happens solo. Our process is all about teaming up with craft communities from Kerala to Jaipur. Clients trust us, artisans surprise us, and together we pull off spaces where you really feel the story.

My Story
Hey, Shruti here. MAIA started with a thought - let spaces talk, you know? Studied at Parsons in New York, but my heart beats desi. I’m obsessed with old-school Indian crafts. Met a thikri artisan in Udaipur, finally worked together years later - mad joy. My studio’s a bunch of curious folks, always chasing stories through design. Vogue and AD100 features? Cool, but real kick is blending handmade magic into people’s homes.
My Work
Interior design for homes, hotels, bars - We do high-end interiors - residences, farmhouses, penthouses, restaurants, microbreweries, boutique hotels.
Indian crafts in every project - Love working with artisans - thikri glasswork, pottery, weaving - we bring Indian crafts into every space.
Timeless, not just trendy - Mixing modern vibes with tradition. Textures, natural stuff, stories - spaces feel personal, not mass-produced.
Clients who want something real - Best fit? Folks who dig local crafts, want their space to feel like theirs, not just a Pinterest copy.
Collaboration all the way - We team up with clients, artisans, and everyone involved. It’s all about making it together.
