About Early Childhood Indian Music & Movement
Why We Do What We Do
I started Little Ustaads because I wanted kids to feel the joy of Indian music, not just learn it. Our classes are all about mixing fun and learning - no boring lectures, just singing, dancing, and playing. I believe even the tiniest kids can connect with our culture if we keep things lively.
What Happens in Class
Kids from 6 months to 5 years jump right in - singing, moving, and exploring. I lead sessions with other trained vocalists, and we love when parents join the action. It’s not just about music, it’s about bonding.
- We sing everything from classical-based songs to Bollywood hits. Sometimes you’ll catch us humming old favorites like 'Aane wala pal jaane wala hai'.
- Movement is big here. Ribbons, flowers, props - all to help kids feel the rhythm.
- Sargam learning activities are woven in, using blocks and games so kids pick up basics like Sa, Re, Ga, Ma without even realizing it.
- We gently introduce raag and taal concepts through playful songs and activities.
Hands-On Instrument Time
Kids get to try mini tabla, dholak, manjira, tambourines, and shakers. It’s noisy, messy, and full of smiles. This is where they really connect with rhythm and sound.
Who It’s For
If your child is between 6 months and 5 years, and you want them to explore Indian classical music for toddlers in a playful way, this is their space. No pressure, just discovery and fun.

My Story
We are Little Ustaads. Been at this since 2008 - sharing Indian classical music with tiny tots, even 6-month-old babies! No boring lessons here, just singing, dancing, messy hands, and lots of mini instruments. Watching kiddos grab a tiny Tabla or Manjira, their faces light up - wah! Started in Mumbai, now our little ustaads jam in Jaipur, Kuala Lumpur, San Francisco. One playful music seed at a time, bas (that's it).
