When you book a recital with me, I ensure the Lehra artist—the harmonium or sarangi player—is perfectly aligned with the pitch and mood of the concert, so the flow remains unbroken from start to finish. In my solo performances, I take the audience through the architecture of the rhythm. A typical recital is structured to showcase a progression, beginning with the foundational Peshkar and moving into the intricate development of Kayda and Rela compositions. My playing draws deeply from the distinct styles of the Farukhabad, Punjab, and Banaras gharanas, honoring the legacy of maestros like Ustad Amir Hussain Khan Sahab. ### What to Expect * **Comprehensive Performance:** Each solo recital is a 90 to 120-minute journey. I handle the coordination for a professional Lehra artist, ensuring the melodic accompaniment supports the rhythmic cycle without overshadowing the tabla. * **Authentic Repertoire:** I focus on 'Upaj'—improvisational pieces that keep the music fresh and responsive to the venue's energy. Whether it is a traditional Teentaal or a complex Jhaptaal, the focus remains on technical clarity and emotional resonance. * **Audience Engagement:** I believe in sharing the story behind the beats. During my performances, I often provide brief verbal introductions to the compositions, helping listeners understand the mathematical beauty of the bols I am playing. My goal is to recreate the sanctity of a classical baithak, even on a large stage.
