You will see glimpses of the Guru-Shishya Parampara that guides my work, along with students I am currently training in the Punjab and Delhi gharana styles. It is a space where tradition meets the reality of modern practice. My work is driven by the desire to keep the wisdom of my Gurus, Ustad Allarakha Khan Sahab and Pt. Yogesh Samsi ji, accessible to everyone. In this collection, you will find photos and clips from my recent concerts in cities like Bangalore and Nashik, where I perform traditional solos and accompany fellow musicians. These moments are not just shows; they are opportunities to share the sound of the tabla with audiences who appreciate the nuances of laya and taal. Alongside performances, I have included a look into how I teach. Whether you join me at my home studio in Mumbai for 1-on-1 mentorship or participate in my intensive weekend workshops, my focus remains the same: building a strong foundation. We work on the basics—hand posture, finger weight, and the nikas (tone) required for a clear, resonant sound. For students starting their journey, we dive into traditional repertoire like Kayda, Rela, and Gat from the Banaras, Punjab, Ajrada, and Farukhabad gharanas. I believe that music is a path of continuous learning. If you are looking to understand the intricacies of tabla or want to refine your technique with guided practice routines, this is where we begin. You will find that my approach is practical, emphasizing consistent daily practice over shortcuts. ## About Yashwant Vaishnav I am Yashwant Vaishnav, and for me, tabla is a lifelong spiritual practice.
