Before you sign off on any design, I always suggest looking at the internal layout. Ask specifically where the electrical points are and how the drawer channels operate. If your study table lacks a power outlet, or your wardrobe doors hit the bed edge when opened, even the most expensive design will become a daily frustration. ### Good Design is About More Than Looks Many clients come to me thinking that interior design is purely about aesthetics. That is a myth. My approach focuses on the intersection of three things: functionality, practicality, and visual appeal. When you design a home, you are building the stage for your daily life. If the stage doesn't work, the performance suffers. ### Why Detailed Planning Saves Money I avoid the 'last-minute' approach (jugaad). We start every project with a 3D design layout. This is not just to show you how the room looks, but to test how it functions. We check: * **Traffic Flow:** Are there clear paths in your bedroom or kitchen? * **Ergonomics:** Are your kitchen counters at the right height? Is your study desk comfortable for long work hours? * **Electrical Placement:** Are the sockets exactly where your appliances need them? ### Choosing the Right Materials Quality isn't a shortcut; it's the whole journey. I strongly advocate for knowing what goes inside your cabinets. We use trusted brands like Century Ply and Green Ply for structures because they handle the Mumbai humidity. For hardware, we stick to brands like Hafele, Hettich, and Blum. Why? Because a hinge should last for years without sagging or making noise. ### Space-Saving for Mumbai Homes In cities like Thane and Mumbai, every square inch has a price. We solve storage issues by using: * **Hidden Storage:** Utilizing loft spaces and floor-to-ceiling wardrobes. * **Multi-functional Units:** Like Murphy beds that act as a desk during the day or TV units with built-in mandirs. * **Smart Hardware:** Pull-out baskets and adjustable shelves that keep things organized. Before you start your renovation, list what you actually use daily. Does your current home have a place for everything?
