My sketchbook is where I explore messy anatomy studies, nature drawings at Sanjay Gandhi National Park, and random thoughts. Here is a look at my daily practice. ## Photos and videos - ![A collection of my work from a live monsoon sketching session at Sanjay Gandhi National Park with Urban Sketchers Mumbai. There's nothing quite like drawing directly from nature, capturing the moment with simple tools like a ballpoint pen.](https://assets.mytribe.in/insecure/raw:1/plain/s3://mytribe-assets-production/69b50b35-2e4f-46c8-a432-54af180fd3f4) - ![A spread from my sketchbook documenting my thoughts and practice in January. I focus on fundamental skills like anatomy and figure drawing, studying sculptures to understand form and light.](https://assets.mytribe.in/insecure/raw:1/plain/s3://mytribe-assets-production/d4f4a7c9-6825-4617-a6c7-ab8ec1c20af1) ## About The Sketchbook Journey You will notice these pages are not polished final products. When I sit down to draw, I often use simple ballpoint pens to capture moments as they happen. If you are looking for perfection, you might not find it here. What you will find is a raw process where mistakes often become part of the final sketch, which is exactly the mindset I encourage in my workshops. My sketchbooks are a sanctuary. After years of working in high-pressure design environments like SmallcaseHQ, I found myself relying too much on digital tools. This collection represents my return to the basics: ink, paper, and the unpredictable mess of hand-drawn art. When I am out with Urban Sketchers Mumbai at locations like Sanjay Gandhi National Park, I am not trying to create a masterpiece. I am trying to document the world as it sits in front of me. Whether it is an anatomy study or a quick doodle of a train ride, each page is a record of a specific moment. I treat my sketchbook as a thinking tool rather than a final portfolio. This perspective often surprises clients who hire me for live event sketching. They quickly realize that the value of my work lies in the speed, honesty, and energy of the lines, rather than rigid technical perfection. If you are interested in this approach, we can explore it in a few ways: * **Workshops:** We move beyond the fear of the blank page and focus on the joy of creating, regardless of skill level. * **Live Sketching:** I bring this same raw, on-the-spot energy to corporate events, weddings, or brand activations in Mumbai. * **Portfolio Review:** If you are an art student feeling the gap between your academic projects and professional industry work, we can look at your process together. Everything you see here started as a simple mark on a loose sheet of paper. If this way of working resonates with you, let's talk about how we can apply it to your project. ## About Shirish Ghatge I am Shirish, and I have spent years moving between the corporate design world and the raw honesty of ink on paper.
