Placing a dog in the South-West, a zone of stability, often makes them dominant and stubborn, while the South-East can cause unnecessary barking. Simple shifts, like moving their bed to the North-West, can often correct these behavioral issues without needing any major changes. ### Harmonizing Your Home for Pets Many pet owners unknowingly place their dogs, cats, or aquariums in energy-draining zones. Vastu for pets is about placement, not complicated remedies. For instance, aquariums act as a large water element. Placing them in the North-East is a common mistake that can disrupt the house's elemental balance. I always recommend the North or East for water features to keep the energy flowing properly. Similarly, for larger animals like cows or horses, the West or North-West direction ensures their well-being. If you have an indoor cat, their litter box (poot tub) placement is critical; always keep it in the North-West, never in the North or East, to maintain the hygiene and energetic purity of the home. ### Practical Vastu for Festivals Festivals are perfect times to reset your home's energy. Most people make the mistake of buying expensive 'remedy' products for Diwali, but true Vastu is about awareness and action: * **Choti Diwali Rituals:** The South direction represents Pitras (ancestors) and protection. Cleaning this area and lighting a four-wick mustard oil lamp (*chaumukhi diya*) honors this direction. Don't forget the drains; lighting small lamps near them is a symbolic way to clear blockages and invite auspicious energy. * **Dhanteras Wealth Activation:** The North is the zone of wealth. Instead of buying Vastu gadgets, simply keep the North direction clean and clear of clutter. Adding water or green elements in this specific zone can genuinely help in maintaining cash flow throughout the year. Whether it's your pet's behavioral concerns or preparing for a festival, my approach is always to provide logical, non-intrusive solutions that you can implement yourself. ## About Smita Narang I’m Smita.
