I used natural cane, earthy textures, and soft mural work to create a space that feels like a slow, peaceful retreat. ## Photos and videos - ![The design of this bedroom is centered on natural textures. Instead of heavy furniture, I used a custom cane headboard and woven pendant lighting to add dimension without cluttering the room. If you are looking to recreate this feel, think about how natural light hits your walls; here, we used a soft peach mural to catch the afternoon sun, making the bedroom feel warm and breathable throughout the day. Unallome is not just a visual style; it is an exercise in restraint. When I approach a bedroom design, my first question is always about how the person wants to feel when they wake up. In this project, the goal was to evoke the stillness of a Goan retreat, bringing that sense of 'susegad' into an urban setting. ### The Art of Natural Materiality Using rattan and cane serves a dual purpose. It introduces organic texture while allowing for airflow, which is critical in our climate. The hand-painted floral mural acts as a focal point, replacing the need for busy wall art or heavy wallpapers that can make a room feel closed in. ### Designing for Atmosphere We focused on warm minimalism. This means we do not strip a room of its character; instead, we curate the items so that each piece has a reason to be there. The wooden stool bedside table is not just a surface, but a grounding element that connects the soft furnishings to the floor. For anyone considering a similar aesthetic, start with your lighting. Woven pendants do not just illuminate; they cast intricate shadows that change the mood of the room as the day progresses. This is how you move from a house to a home that lives well. ## About UrbanMistrii I am Ritika, and my studio, UrbanMistrii, focuses on listening to the space before I ever draw a line. I do not follow design trends because they fade. I prefer working with natural, honest materials that gain character as you live in them.
