Here, I'm guiding a high-drive Belgian Malinois through a complex freestyle obedience routine, combining heelwork, middle positions, and sharp turns around a cone. This video shows a Rottweiler learning the art of focused heeling, maintaining eye contact and staying perfectly in sync with my movements. We don't just force obedience. Instead, we use 'thinsi nodona'—literally 'let's see if it eats'—to identify if your dog is food-driven or prey-driven. This single step is the engine for all high-level work, turning your dog from a pet into an enthusiastic, focused competitor. Building a competition-ready dog is different from standard obedience. It requires grit and a deeper understanding of what makes your dog tick. Whether you have a Malinois, a Rottweiler, or any other breed with heart, the process starts with drive activation. ### Why Foundations Matter Many handlers rush to protection work or complex routines without setting the base. That's a mistake. We focus on: * **Precision Heeling:** Developing that intense eye contact and 'Fuss' position that competition judges look for. * **Body Awareness:** Using touchpads and platform work to teach your dog exactly where their paws are. This prevents errors in advanced agility and freestyle. * **Engagement:** The ability for your dog to choose you over a distracting, high-energy environment. ### The Sport Approach My training methods, derived from IGP and PSA disciplines, are about clarity. We utilize markers (like 'Yes' or clickers) to pinpoint the exact moment of success. If we are working on bite mechanics, we use the right sleeves and wedges to build confidence rather than just force. This isn't about bragging rights. It's about finding the 'purpose' your dog craves. When they realize they have a job—whether it's tracking, focused heelwork, or protection—you will see a change in their demeanor. They become a thinking partner rather than just a follower. If you are ready for the sweat and the reward of real teamwork, I am here to guide you through the process, step by step 🐾. ## About Umesh Kumar I'm Űmëšh.
