It is a tactile experience where they learn that caring for a plant takes patience and consistency, teaching them responsibility in a way that textbooks simply cannot match. Why gardening? It is a sensory-rich activity that grounds a child in the present moment. When they press a seed into the earth, they are practicing fine motor skills. When they water it daily, they are building a healthy routine. At our center, we strip away the gadgets and focus on the basics: soil, sun, and water. What to expect during our sessions: * **Hands-on learning:** Children handle the soil and pots themselves, guided by our facilitators. * **Ownership:** Each child manages their own plant. We choose fast-growing seeds so they get the reward of seeing a sprout within a few days. * **Science in action:** We explain why the plant needs sunlight and how the roots develop, turning a fun afternoon into a real biology lesson. We keep the environment calm, letting children move at their own pace. By the end of the session, they do not just walk out with a potted plant; they walk out with a sense of pride and a new connection to the natural world. It is the perfect screen-free activity for building confidence and eco-awareness. ## About Tugbug I started Tugbug because I wanted a space where kids can just be themselves and get messy with real, tangible activities. Here in the patch, I watch children transform into tiny environmentalists, learning that nature is something you do, not just something you look at.
