## Pricing guide (estimates)

These are indicative prices based on provider's past work. Enquire now to find out final quote.

### Bioclimatic Architectural Design

Includes sun-path analysis for 3-5°C cooler interiors, load-bearing structural drawings, and specific soil-mix ratios for CSEB blocks.

Typically ₹450-650 ₹ / sq. ft. of built-up area (estimate)

#### Core Design & Engineering
* Climate Analysis: Sun-path and wind studies to orient buildings for the stack effect, targeting a 3-5 degree indoor temperature drop.
* Structural Drawings: Specialized designs for load-bearing walls to eliminate concrete columns, plus vaulted roof systems like Jack Arches.
* Soil Science: Testing local earth for CSEB suitability and defining the specific soil-cement-lime mix ratios.

#### Sustainability Systems
* Water Design: Layouts for rainwater sumps, groundwater recharge pavers, and Root Zone Treatment for greywater recycling.
* Natural Lighting: Positioning of circular pivot windows, jalis, and skylights to reduce daytime artificial light needs.

#### Execution Support
* Precision Documentation: Brick layout drawings to ensure zero cutting waste during masonry.
* Quality Control: Visits to validate the on-site block press setup and curing protocols.

### Bespoke Eco-Interiors

Custom joinery using reclaimed teak and rattan weaving, cast-in-situ oxide counters, and terracotta ceiling accents.

Typically ₹1,800-2,500 ₹ / sq. ft. of carpet area (estimate)

#### Custom Joinery
* Furniture: Fabrication of wardrobes and cabinets using reclaimed teak, rubber wood, or ply with natural veneers.
* Craftsmanship: Integration of hand-woven rattan panels in shutters for ventilation.
* Built-ins: Design of solid wood dining tables, swings (Oonjal), and masonry-integrated seating (thinnai).

#### Surfaces & Ceilings
* Countertops: Cast-in-situ cement oxide surfaces for kitchens and vanities in red, yellow, or green earth tones.
* Overhead: Exposed terracotta tile ceilings or bamboo matting accents to cover electrical conduits.

#### Decor Elements
* Lighting: Custom hanging lights made from terracotta pots, wicker, or mild steel frames.
* Furnishing: Organic cotton or linen blinds selected to match the natural color palette.

### End-to-End Earth Construction

Full execution using on-site Compressed Earth Blocks (CSEB), filler slab roofing, and chemical-free lime finishes.

Typically ₹2,700-3,400 ₹ / sq. ft. of built-up area (estimate)

#### Civil & Structure
* Foundation: Stone masonry foundations used instead of heavy concrete footings to lower embodied energy.
* Wall Systems: Manufacturing Compressed Stabilized Earth Blocks (CSEB) on-site; laid in exposed Rat-trap or Solid bonds without plaster.
* Roofing: Construction of Filler Slabs using terracotta pots to reduce concrete volume, or thermally insulated Jack Arch roofs.

#### Natural Finishes
* Flooring: Hand-polished Red or Yellow Oxide floors, or combinations using Kota and Jaisalmer stone.
* Wall Treatment: Internal walls left as exposed earth or finished with lime washes; no chemical plastic paints used.
* Windows & Grills: Mild steel grills with bamboo detailing and upcycled timber windows featuring arch designs.

#### Eco-Infrastructure
* Water Management: Building underground rainwater tanks and civil works for natural root-zone waste treatment plants.
* Energy Integration: Solar passive cooling ducts and biogas plant civil works.

## About Sustainable Architecture

### Good Living Meets Nature

I’m all about spaces that respect the land and make life better for people living there. For me, sustainable architecture isn’t just an idea - it’s about creating real homes that are comfortable, beautiful, and work with nature.

### Local Materials and Smarter Methods

Main honestly bolunga (I’ll be straight), my work starts with eco-friendly building materials from the region. If we’re building in Bangalore, I use techniques and resources that have always worked here, like compressed stabilised earth blocks made from mitti (soil) right from your site. No fire, no pollution, no long truck rides. You get walls with a natural look, and we skip plaster and paint.

Less cement, less steel - load-bearing walls with earth blocks mean your home is lighter on the planet. That’s low-carbon construction for real.

### Buildings That Breathe

I design spaces using passive cooling techniques, like double-height ceilings and open courtyards, so homes stay cool without AC. Big windows, skylights, and smart openings let in plenty of daylight, keeping things bright and saving energy. For the roof, Mangalore tiles or Jack Arches do wonders for blocking heat.

### Self-Sufficiency, Not Just a Buzzword

Rainwater harvesting systems come standard. Wastewater gets cleaned by plant roots, and kitchen scraps can turn into useful biogas. Solar panels are a natural fit, so your home can make its own clean energy.

### Custom Homes, Schools, Communities

From family villas to schools and full community master planning, I use these sustainable ideas everywhere. Every project is shaped by what the land and people need, nothing cookie-cutter.

## Meet your expert

[Tropic Responses](https://mytribe.in/tropic_responses)

### My story

We kicked off Tropic Responses in 2011, ek simple idea tha—let’s make homes that belong to the tropics, not just sit on it. For me, architecture is all about using mitti (earth), local hands, and culture. Like at Ekadanta, we made bricks from the same land—Mumbai ka lime, Rajasthan ka wood, Kerala ka oxide. People say sustainable homes can’t be posh—challenge accepted! It’s about making luxury gentle on the earth. And ya, teaching young architects? Always a joy.

### My work

- **What We Do**: Architecture, interiors, climate-responsive design, bespoke furniture, landscape—residential and commercial. All eco-friendly, all custom.
- **Luxury Meets Sustainability**: We blend modern comforts with eco-conscious living—think climate-responsive architecture that doesn’t compromise on style.
- **Local Materials, Vernacular Vibe**: Walls from your own earth, natural ventilation design, roofs that feel like they grew there. Vernacular home design is our jam.
- **Collaboration All the Way**: We plan, we 3D render, we listen. Every choice—from layout to custom oxide flooring—is a team effort.
- **Details Make the Home**: Handcrafted furniture for eco homes, painted handles, unique tiles. Small touches, big soul.
