Whether it is a quiet ghazal evening or a collaborative sitar recital, I approach every note as an opportunity for genuine interaction. ### A Traditional Approach to Music My roots are in the traditional style of Indian music, where a performance is not a lecture but a shared experience. After nearly three decades, I have learned that the best rhythm comes from deep listening. Whether I am supporting a seasoned vocalist in a Khayal performance or finding the right balance for a young artist, my focus is always on the 'layakari'—the rhythmic play—that keeps the music alive. ### The Baithak Experience I often organize these smaller gatherings because they offer something a large auditorium cannot: instant feedback. In these rooms, I can see the audience react to a specific composition or a shared moment of silence. I am fortunate to have shared the stage with many talented friends, including Ustad Rafique Khan and Debasmita Bhattacharya. When we play together, it feels like a conversation among friends. I treat every session—be it a formal concert, a ghazal baithak, or a studio recording—with the same respect for the craft.
