Each set comes with genuine components, like actual DC motors, batteries, and 3D-printed structural parts, rather than fragile, injection-molded plastic. We include everything needed for a complete build, but the real value is what happens when it does not work the first time. That is where the actual learning happens. Our DIY kits are built for curious kids aged 7-13 who want to understand how things work, not just follow a manual. We steer clear of the 'toy' approach. Instead, we provide the same kind of foundational engineering concepts we teach in our workshops at our Bangalore-based lab. ### Why These Kits are Different - **No Toy-Grade Parts:** We use high-grade corrugated cardboard, laser-cut wood, and custom 3D-printed PLA structural components. These are designed to last through hours of tinkering. - **Real Electronics:** Every kit includes functional switches, wiring, and DC motors (3V to 6V). This teaches children about basic circuits, Ohm's law, and how power flows, which is essential for understanding modern electronics. - **Built to Fail (and Fix):** The beauty of our kits is that they are not meant to be perfect. If a wheel falls off or a connection is loose, your child learns how to diagnose the problem using a screwdriver, wire stripper, or glue gun. They move from being a consumer to a creator. ### What You Get Each kit comes with a complete set of materials and clear instructions on the physics or mechanics involved. Whether you are working on a hydraulic maze or a solar lamp, the kit is complete enough to finish in a single session but open-ended enough to modify afterward. If you are in Bengaluru and want to move beyond screen time with a meaningful, hands-on activity, these kits provide a structured entry point into the world of maker education. ## About Tinkernauts I am Rohan, and I started Tinkernauts because I wanted my own kids to stop hearing the word 'no' and start building. My goal is to get real screwdrivers and motors into their hands so they can figure out how the world works for themselves.
